In Pokémon GO, there are many Items that are related with capturing, hatching, evolving and battling Pokémon. Most of them can be obtained from Photo Discs at PokéStops and Gyms. Items can be also rewarded from leveling up, winning Raid Battles, completing Research tasks, participating in GO Battle League matches, battling Team GO Rocket members and other methods.

The Item Bag refers to the page containing all currently held items. To enter to the the Item Bag:

  1. in Map View, touch the Main Menu button Button Main Menu
  2. touch the Bag button White Button Bag

Most of the items available are contained in the Item Bag, but there are some exceptions, such as Premier Balls or purchasable storage upgrades. The Item Bag can be switched between List view and Grid view.[1]

Item Bag capacity starts at 350 items (practically 348 – the Camera and Infinite Incubator count towards the total). The max capacity can be increased in units of 50 by purchasing the Bag Upgrade from the Shop for PokeCoin 200. Bag capacity can be increased up to a maximum capacity of 11,000 item slots.

After reaching the Item Bag space limit, Photo Discs at PokéStops and Gyms cannot be spun for more items. However, items received from Raid Battles, Research tasks and Trainer level rewards are still received, regardless if the maximum capacity would be exceeded.

All items except the Unlimited Incubator, Camera, free Raid Pass, Mystery Box and purchased Tickets can be permanently removed from the Item Bag.

Poké Balls are items that are critical to a Trainer's quest, used for catching and storing Pokémon. Poké Balls can be obtained through several different ways, such as: spinning Photo Discs at PokéStops and Gyms, leveling up, completing research tasks, opening Gifts or purchasing them in the Shop (in this case only regular ones).

Potions are items that can restore an injured Pokémon's HP. They can be acquired from leveling up, spinning Photo Disc at PokéStops or Gyms, defeating a Raid Battle, completing research tasks, or opening Gifts.

Berries are items that can be fed to wild Pokémon, Pokémon defending Gyms, and Buddy Pokémon to achieve a variety of effects. They can be acquired from acquired from leveling up, spinning a Photo Disc at PokéStops or Gyms, defeating a Raid Battle, completing research tasks, or opening Gifts.

A Poffin is an item that can be fed to a Buddy Pokémon in order to instantly promote it to its excited state. Buddy Pokémon that have been fed a Poffin will also become active on the map for 6 hours instead of the usual 1 hour.

A Gift is an item that can be sent to another Trainer. The recieving Trainer can open the Gift to recieve a variety of items, some of which are unavailable from spinning a Photo Disc at PokéStops or Gyms.[3] One Gift can be sent to each Friend per day. 20 Gifts can be opened in a single day. 20 Gifts can be carried in the Item Bag at any given time, and they do not take up any bag space.

There are currently two kinds of Gifts:

Gifts have a Postcard from the PokéStop or Gym it was obtained at. Stickers can be added to Postcard. Postcards can be pinned to the Postcard Book.

Evolution Items are items used to evolve certain species of Pokémon. There is small chance that Johto Evolution Items can be obtained from spinning Photo Disc PokéStops and one is guaranteed on the seventh day spin streak. They can be also obtained as a reward from Research tasks, Gifts or Trainer Battles.

Egg Incubators are items used to hatch Pokémon Eggs. Eggs must be placed in an Incubator before they can be hatched. The distance required to hatch an Egg is tracked via GPS when the game is open, or through Adventure Sync when the game is closed.

Technical Machines (TMs for short) are items that permanently teach a Pokémon a new random Fast Attack or Charged Attack. Elite Technical Machines (Elite TMs for short) can select a specific attack to teach Pokémon, including exclusive moves.

They can be only obtained as a reward from Raid Battles, Research tasks and GO Battle League rewards.

A Lucky Egg is an item that doubles gained XP for 30 minutes. After activating a Lucky Egg, its effect lasts whether the player is online or offline.

This item cannot be obtained from a PokéStop itself. However, it can be received by reaching certain levels, or by purchasing it from the Shop for PokeCoin 80. A bundle containing eight Lucky Eggs can be purchased for PokeCoin 500 as well. It can be also rewarded for completing research tasks.

A Star Piece is an item that awards 50% more Stardust for 30 minutes. After activating a Star Piece, its effect lasts whether the player is online or offline.

This item cannot be obtained from a PokéStop itself. However, it can be received by purchasing it from the Shop. Bundles containing eight Star Pieces can be purchased for PokeCoin 640 as well. It can be also rewarded for completing research tasks.

Lure Modules are items that can be used on PokéStop to attract more wild Pokémon to appear near it. Unlike Incense, everyone can catch the attracted Pokémon. Certain advanced Lure Module types attract specific Pokémon species and can cause certain Pokémon to evolve.

There are six types of Lure Modules:

These items cannot be obtained from a PokéStop itself. All types of Lure Modules, except for Golden Lure Modules, can be purchased from the in-game Shop. Golden Lure Modules are obtained on every fifth day of sending a Postcard to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Incense is an item that makes Pokémon spawn nearby the player for 60 minutes. The spawn rate of Pokémon can be increased while walking. The Trainer and Pokémon lured by the Incense will have a pink aura circling around them. Pokémon spawns are based on the local biome the player is in, as well as any currently ongoing Events.

Daily Adventure Incense is a special type of Incense that attracts Pokémon for 15 minutes as long the Trainer is moving. Only one Daily Adventure Incense can be carried in the Item Bag at a time. One is automatically added to the Item Bag once daily at 12 a.m. local time if the Trainer does not have it.

Mystery Box is a special kind of Incense which is a mysterious old box that Trainers can receive upon transferring Pokémon to other Pokémon games.

Opening it releases a scent which attracts Meltan for 60 minutes. Once the box has been activated, the Trainer must wait 3 days to transfer Pokémon and re-unlock the box.

Coin Bag is a special kind of Incense that Trainers can receive upon sending a Postcard once per day to Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet.

Opening it attracts Roaming Form Gimmighoul for 30 minutes. Unlike the Mystery Box, Trainers must be walking to receive the full effect from the Coin Bag.

The Camera is a key item that all Trainers obtain at the very beginning of their journey with Pokémon GO.

The Camera is an item given to player automatically. It is essentially an easier way to take screenshots on player's mobile device - and when capturing a Pokémon, you can tap the camera icon to easily take a picture within the app. The screenshots/pictures of Pokémon encounter made in-game adds player's name in the bottom corner of the picture. It cannot be removed from the item bag and it takes up one slot.

Camera item allows to access the GO Snapshot feature that allows Trainers to take photos of Pokémon from their collection at any time.

The Zygarde Cube is a key item used to hold Zygarde Cells needed to change the form of Zygarde.

The Zygarde Cube is earned by completing the 3rd step of the Special Research From A to Zygarde. Once obtained, collectable Zygarde Cells start appearing while traveling on Routes. It cannot be removed from the item bag.
